Doh.

(Written Saturday 6.june)

This is approximately (meaning it was longer. I have shortened it because 1. It takes less space this way, and 2. Frankly, I don’t remember all of it, and don’t want to) how a conversation between Maja and I sounded like yesterday:

Maja: Did you know that those Christian people will live longer than you?
Me: No way. (thinking this isn’t serious)
Maja: Way. I read someplace that religious people in general live longer than other people and live better and more healthy lives than, say, atheists. Some scientific test says so.
Me: Bullshit! (Of course, because this means a shorter life for me, and I refuse to believe that Christian people live better lives than me.)
Maja: You don’t think so?
Me: No.
Maja: But this was a scientific test. You believe in science.
Line: Yeah, well… oh crap.

This is how Maja finally got me speechless, using one of my favourite arguments against me. Then I said that maybe we ought to be religious as well, then, and Maja suggested Islam or Satanism. Needless to say we didn’t follow that train of thought very long:)

Now, I didn’t think about it right there and then, but maybe there is something to it. I mean I’m probably going to die a really miserable person, because I believe that there is no afterlife, that when you’re dead, you’re gone. Forever. (Man, atheism has to be the most depressing religion.) Meanwhile, religious people can die peacefully, believing that there is actually another life waiting for them. It would be so much easier to die if I could believe in heaven or something like that. And there’s probably a shitload of other situations where religious people are better off. I’m obviously doomed to have a non-healthy and short life.

I think I'm going to go throw away that bag of chips I've been wanting to eat for a while now...
